Cormaria Special Programs

Read all about the large variety of Cormaria special programs. We look forward to welcoming you to our retreat house in Sag Harbor, NY.

Programs Offered

Directed Retreat

This is a uniquely personal experience in which the retreatant is afforded the time, silence, and direction to come in touch with his/her personal relationship with God. There is a daily meeting with a director focusing on the totality of the day's experience and discerning the movements of the Spirit in the retreatant.

Guided Retreat

In an atmosphere of quiet and solitude, a theme is developed and presented to a group through daily conferences. Suggestions for personal reflection are offered. Guided prayer and/or shared prayer experiences are offered to the retreatants as well as the opportunity to meet with the director.

Private Retreat

Those wishing to make a private retreat may do so according to the availability of space.

Ongoing Spiritual Direction

This process focuses on the relationship between God and the individual. The director accompanies the directee as an observer and facilitator on the person's journey in faith. Through clarification, confirmation, and discernment, the director facilitates and challenges the directee to see the movement of the Spirit in his/her daily life so that the directee may grow in freedom and in truth and arrive at a free response to God.

Day of Prayer

The staff offers a program to a group desiring to spend a day in prayer and quiet. The format consists of a conference, a guided prayer experience, lunch, free time, and a closing prayer service or liturgy.

Ongoing Programs

Morning of Prayer

September through June, Every Wednesday Morning from 10:00 a.m.–11:00 a.m.
Join us for a morning of prayer at which women spend time, are silent, and hear the Lord call them by name.

Stillness in the Marketplace

On the first Wednesday of every month beginning in October and ending in June, women come together for an evening of quiet solitude to explore their lives and experience where God is touching them in the marketplace of their lives. The evening begins with dinner and includes a prayer service and time for reflection. 5:30 p.m.–7:30 p.m.

Hermitage Experience

Amidst the sea breezes, the sound of seagulls, and the lapping water, Cormaria offers a hermitage experience. The Hermitage is a small building located at the end of the property. It has two separate units with kitchen facilities where you prepare your own meals. It is a place for people to be still and be recreated as they spend time in solitude with their God.

Garden of the Spirit

Cormaria's grounds include several lovely gardens. Walk through them, hear the whisper of wind in the seagrass, and listen to the quiet by The Resurrection Rock. Realize your contemplative call to "be still" as you pray in the Garden of "The Woman at the Well." Cormaria Retreat House has been named one of the ten most beautiful retreat houses in the U.S.

Gift Certificates

Looking for a gift idea? We would like to suggest a Cormaria Gift Certificate so your friends and family have a chance to use it for retreats, day events, or the gift shop. A gift everyone would love! Please call the office for further details.
